I am a simple man with complex thoughts, and I love to express them through art and photography. I was born and raised in the New Orleans area, but I love to travel anywhere life takes me. My main form of art is fine art photography. While I do portrait and commercial work, my true passion is discovering the beauty that remains hidden in the city around us. I love to just walk around the streets and see what calls out to me.
My Inspiration is LIFE - plain and simple. My passion is discovering the hidden beauty that surrounds us; whether it is the way a building ages and breaks down after a life well spent or the way a child smiles as it looks up at their parents. Beauty surrounds us everywhere, and sometimes we forget to look for it...so here I am to remind you. I love the feel of the city; New Orleans is where my heart is, New York is where my dreams are, everywhere in between is where I am. Living each day like it was my last and sharing my passion.

What do you love the most about creating art in New Orleans? What particular part of your immediate environment, in your neighborhood specifically influences your work?
Everything! New Orleans is a such a diverse and special place. The city never tries to hide its imperfections, it embraces them - showing all people that there can be beauty in being unique. Growing up in the metro area, the entire city has been engrained in my character; but out of the many different neighborhoods I love the French Quarter. It is one of the areas that everyone is connected to - where everyone and everything has a story.
Describe your creative process. Are there any rituals or rites of passage you exercise before you begin a new piece?
It's all about a state of mind. Whether I am working on personal images for my portfolio or working with a client for portraits, each image begins with a chance for me to clear my head and focus - usually with a walk or some songs.

Who are your artistic influences or gurus?
I have 3 people who continually influence me.
Annie Leibovitz - for her ability to evoke such emotion in her early works.
Zack Smith - because of his constant passion for photography.
Candy Chang - for her creative vision in finding art in the simplest places.
In New Orleans, art and music go hand in hand. What type of music, band or song lyric best describes your work?
I once heard a local jazz legend describe his favorite part of music as the "texture" - that part underneath the surface we hear. The reverb of the strings, the feel of the brass, the way the dust rises from the floorboards when a drum is hit. The true magic lies underneath the surface, the same can be said for art. I feel that my photos examine some of the texture of our lives - digging a little deeper to see the details we walk past everyday.
Where can we find you when you are not creating art?
Either at a coffee shop or in a dive bar in the quarter. No matter where I am, I will be probably be thinking about the meaning of life and singing a song in my head.
What is your favorite time of day/day of the week/month of the year?
Dawn / Sunday / April. (But there is a certain magic that happens at 5:30am on Mardi Gras morning. The city just seems to shine quietly before the parades begin).
What is something people don’t know about you? A fun fact.
I have some pretty good dance moves.... shhh
